The Phoenix Suns are set at center for 2011-12 with the Polish Hammer

27-year old center Marcin “The Polish Hammer” Gortat came to the Suns last year in a deal with the Magic. He played in 80 games (14 starts) for the Suns & Magic last year and he averaged 25.4 minutes, 10.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 1.1 blocked shots per game. Gortat has now played in 230 games (17 starts) in his first four years in the NBA and he is averaging 17.2 minutes, 5.9 points, 5.5 rebounds an 0.4 assists per game. Finally out of the shadow of Dwight Howard in Orlando, Gortat’s NBA career is ready to take off. 23-year old Robin Lopez will backup Gortat in 2011-12. Lopez played in 67 games (56 starts) last year for the Suns and he averaged 14.8 minutes, 6.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game. He has now played in 178 games (94 starts) in his first three years in the NBA and he is averaging 14.6 minutes, 5.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game. 25-year old Garret Siler played in 21 games (0 starts) as a rookie for the Suns last year and he averaged 4.8 minutes, 2.1 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game.

The Phoenix Suns have a lot of depth at power forward heading into 2011-12

28-year old Channing Frye will likely be the starting power forward for the Suns once again in 2011-12. Frye played in 77 games (64 starts) for the Suns last year and he averaged 33.0 minutes, 12.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 blocked shot per game. He has now played in 436 games (199 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 23.6 minutes, 9.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. Frye is a solid outside shooter as he has nailed 40.3% of this three point shots so far in his career. 29-year old Hakim Warrick is a decent backup. He played in 80 games (6 starts) for the Suns last year and he averaged 17.7 minutes, 8.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. Warrick has now played in 463 games (95 starts) so far in his career and he is averaging 20.8 minutes, 9.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. 22-year old Markieff Morris was the Suns’ first round pick out of Kansas last June. He could really push Warrick and Frye for P.T. as he has a nice upside as a power player. 23-year old Gani Lawal played in only 1 game last year as a rookie for the Suns and he played 2 minutes without recording any other stats.

The Phoenix Suns are likely going to give Jared Dudley his big shot in 2011-12

26-year old Jared Dudley will likely get the shot to start at small forward for the Suns in 2011-12. Dudley played in 82 games (15 starts) for the Suns last year and he averaged 26.1 minutes, 10.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Dudley has now played in 305 games (37 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 7.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. He has shot 41.7% from three-point range in his career so far, which is pretty darn impressive. 28-year old Josh Childress will backup Dudley at small forward this year. Childress played in 54 games (3 starts) for the Suns last year and he averaged 16.6 minutes, 5.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. He has now played in 339 games (70 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 29.0 minutes, 10.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

34-year old Vince Carter will likely be the starting shooting guard for the Suns once again in 2011-12. Carter played in 73 games (63 starts) for the Magic & Suns last year and he averaged 28.1 minutes, 14.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. He has now played in 925 games (907 starts) in his NBA career so far and he is averaging 36.4 minutes, 22.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game. 29-year old Mickael Pietrus will back up Carter once again in 2011-12. Pietrus played in 57 games (4 starts) for the Magic & Suns last year and he averaged 19.4 minutes, 7.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. He has now played in 496 games (150 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 21.5 minutes, 7.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.

Steve Nash just keeps on rolling for the Phoenix Suns

37-year old Steve Nash will be the Suns’ starting point guard once again in 2011-12. Nash played in 75 games (all starts) for the Suns last year and he averaged 33.3 minutes, 14.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 11.4 assists per game. He has now played in 1,090 games (931 starts) in his NBA career so far and he is averaging 31.3 minutes, 14.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game. The Suns will likely want to keep Nash around 30-33 minutes played per game in 2011-12, as they try to help him extend his career. As of right now, 27-year old Zabian Dowdell is his backup. Dowdell played in 24 games (0 starts) for the Suns as a rookie last year and he averaged 12.2 minutes, 5.0 points, 0.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
