Steve Nash is playing soild basketball for the Phoenix Suns

The Suns have asked 36-year old point guard Steve Nash to look for his own shot more this year and he is responding well. Nash has played in 15 games (all starts) for the Suns so far this year and he is averaging 34.2 minutes, 18.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 9.6 assists per game. He is shooting 49% from the floor so far this year but he’s only shooting 35.6% from three point range so far this year. I look for his 3-point % to come up as he is just too good of a shooter for it not to.

Jason Richardson is stepping up for the Phoenix Suns

With Amare Stoudemire off to the Knicks, the Suns needed someone to pick up the slack on offense. So far, 30-year old shooting guard Jason Richardson has been that guy. Richardson has played in 11 games (all starts) for the Suns so far this year and he is averaging 32.9 minutes, 20.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game. He is shooting an amazing 44.3% from three point range and the Suns need him to keep up the good work. The Suns are going to have to try to outscore teams this year so they need Richardson to keep lighting up the scoreboard.

Garret Siler won’t be getting much P.T. this year for the Phoenix Suns

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 18 November 2010 at 7:36 pm

24-year old rookie center Garret Siler will have a hard time getting much P.T. this year for the Suns. Siler has played in 4 games (0 starts) for the Suns so far this year and he is averaging 5.5 minutes, 0.8 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.5 assists per game. The Suns have a veteran roster that’s in a win now mode so they won’t have much of a chance to play Siler this year.

The Phoenix Suns sign Earl Barron

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Suns News, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 17 November 2010 at 7:11 pm

The Suns have signed 29-year old center Earl Barron. Barron played in 7 games (6 starts) for the Knicks last season and he averaged 33.1 minutes, 11.7 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Barron has now played in 89 games (21 starts) in his four years in the NBA and he is averaging 15.4 minutes, 5.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. The Suns hope that Barron gives them help inside until Robin Lopez is ready to return to action.

The Phoenix Suns lose Robin Lopez for a while

Blogged under Bloglockers, General, Big Suns News, Need to step up, Injuries, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 16 November 2010 at 1:44 pm

The Suns will be without center Robin Lopez for about a month due to sprains of his left MCL and PCL. He has played in 9 games (all starts) for the Suns so far this year and he is averaging 17.8 minutes, 5.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 0.1 assists and 1.0 blocked shot per game. The Suns will need Channing Frye to step up as he will replace Lopez in the starting lineup. Frye has played in 10 games (1 start) for the Suns so far this year and he is averaging 28.2 minutes, 7.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. The Suns are going to need Frye to get on the glass because they are a tad undersized when Lopez isn’t on the floor.
