The Phoenix Suns are in great shape at point guard for 2010-11

The Suns are in outstanding shape at point guard with 36-year old Steve Nash and 24-year old Goran Dragic sharing the job.  Nash played in 81 games (all starts) for the Suns last season and he averaged 32.8 minutes, 16.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 11.0 assists per game.  Nash shot 50.7% from the floor, 42.6% from three point range and 93.8% from the free throw line last year as he is still an outstanding shooter from everywhere on the basketball court.  Nash has now played in 1,015 games (856 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 31.2 minutes, 14.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game.  I look for him to have another outstanding year in 2010-11.

24-year old Goran Dragic was so good last season that the Suns didn’t mind resting Steve Nash more than usual to keep him fresh all year.  Dragic played in 80 games (2 starts) for the Suns last season and he averaged 18.0 minutes, 7.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.  He has now played in 135 games (3 starts) in his first two years with the Suns and he has averaged 16.1 minutes, 6.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.  Dragic will eventually replace Nash as the starting point guard for the Suns but hopefully that won’t be for a few more years.

PROJECTED GRADE FOR THE SUNS POINT GUARDS IN 2010-11:  A+
