Phoenix Suns 90, Cleveland Cavaliers 107

The Phoenix Suns (14-5) got off to an awful start last night against the Cleveland Cavaliers (13-5), and found themselves down 33-14 after one and 57-29 at halftime.  The Suns shot 40% from the field and were out-rebounded 51-41 by the Cavs.  It would seem that the Suns fell victim to a monster game by LeBron James, but that wasn’t the case as LeBron only had 12 points.  He did have 10 assists and 8 rebounds and the Suns gave up 49 points to the Cavs’ bench.  The Suns actually won the second half, but they put themselves in such a big hole that the game was basically over at halftime.  Steve Nash had 14 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds but he also turned the ball over an uncharacteristic 6 times.  Channing Frye led the team with 22 points and 7 rebounds.  The Suns have never been known for their defense, but they need to get better defensively because this is what happens when the Suns don’t come out shooting the ball well.

Jared Dudley is stepping up for the Phoenix Suns

The Suns never used to want to use their young players but now they are starting to give them minutes off a bench and forward Jared Dudley is starting to benefit. Dudley has played in 19 games (0 starts) for the Suns so far this season and he is averaging 22.1 minutes, 8.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steal per game. Dudley won’t be getting into the starting lineup any time soon but if he can keep giving the Suns solid minutes off the bench like he is right now he will be an asset to the team.

The Suns were outrebounded last night 50-40 as the Knicks really wanted this game for ex-Suns head coach Mike D’Antoni. Steve Nash led the way for the Suns last night with 20 points, 3 rebounds and 8 assists. Amare Stoudemire, Jason Richardson and Alando Tucker each pitched in with 14 points apiece in the game last night. The Suns are now 14-4 on the year.
