Steve Nash is playing great for the Phoenix Suns

Blogged under Bloglockers, Big Suns News, Steppin Up by Andrew on Thursday 5 November 2009 at 7:05 pm

Steve Nash got the Phoenix Suns off to 4-0 start before losing to Orlando last night.  Although he had an off night in their loss last night, the 35-year-old Nash has not lost a step and has been running circles around point guards nearly half his age.  Through the first five games, Nash is averaging numbers close to his MVP years.  He is averaging 19.6 points, 10.8 assists, 3.o rebounds and the Suns have been able to limit his minutes to 34 per game.  Although it doesn’t seem like age has caught up with Nash, it would be great if the Suns could continue to keep the veteran point guard’s minutes down.  Nash has been shooting lights out so far this season as well.  He is shooting 53% from the field and an even better 55% from three point land.  The Suns could be much more dangerous than people thought, especially with Nash on top of his game.

Orlando Magic 122, Phoenix Suns 100

The Magic shot 52.3% from the floor and 52.2% from three point range and it’s hard to win when you play defense like that. Amare Stoudemire led the way for the Suns last night with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Jared Dudley had one of his best games of his NBA career last night finishing with 17 points and 3 rebounds in only 23 minutes off the bench. Backup point guard Goran Dragic also had a great game for the Suns as he scored 15 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and he dished out 6 assists in 30 minutes. The Suns are now 4-1 on the season.

Phoenix Suns 104, Miami Heat 96

The Suns outscored the Heat 29-15 in the 4th quarter to steal a nice road win in Miami last night. Steve Nash led the way for the Suns in this game with 30 points, 3 rebounds and 8 assists. Amare Stoudemire had a solid game in the paint as he finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocked shots. Jason Richardson pitched in with 14 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists for the Suns. The Suns are now 4-0 on the season.

Channing Frye is off to a great start for the Phoenix Suns

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 3 November 2009 at 10:55 pm

Channing Frye is off to a great start for the Phoenix Suns this season. He has started 3 games this year and he is averaging 32.0 minutes, 19.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 2 steals per game. The thing that separates Frye from other starting centers is his shooting. He is hitting 58.3% of his shots from the floor and a stunning 65% from three point range. If Frye keeps shooting like he is right now the Suns will have a advantage almost every night as he will drag the opposing center out of the paint.

Phoenix Suns 120, Minnesota Timberwolves 112

The Suns shot 50% last night as they just outran the T-Wolves last night. The Suns only got 16 points out of the bench so it was the starters who did all of the heavy lifting for them. Channing Frye led the way for the Suns in this game with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Jason Richardson played in his first game of the season (suspension) and he was solid with 23 points and 2 rebounds. Grant Hill has been solid all year long and that didn’t change last night as he finished up with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Amare Stoudemire was solid also around the basket with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Steve Nash was good as usual last night as he scored 14 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and he dished out another 14 assists. The Suns are off to a 3-0 start to the 2009-2010 NBA season.
