The Suns have re-signed 36-year old small forward Grant Hill to a 2-year deal. Hill played in 82 games (68 starts) for the Suns last season and he averaged 29.8 minutes, 12.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game. The Suns were smart to bring back Hill who really showed something by playing in all 82 games after a lot of years of injuries. Hill has now played in 787 games (765 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 35.7 minutes, 18.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Look for Hill to contribute on both ends of the court again this season for the Suns.

The Suns have re-signed 26-year old small forward Louis Amundson to a 1-year deal. Amundson played in 76 games (0 starts) for the Suns last season and he averaged 13.7 minutes, 4.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. Amundson gave the Suns good production off the bench and it was a reward for finally giving him the minutes to show what he could do. He has now played in 103 games (0 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 11.6 minutes, 3.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. This was a good move as the price was right to bring Amundson back.

The Phoenix Suns buy out Ben Wallace

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Suns News, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 14 July 2009 at 6:16 am

The Suns have bought out recently acquired power forward Ben Wallace’s contract saving the Suns about $8 million bucks against the salary cap. This ends the rumors of the Suns trading Wallace to the Hornets for center Tyson Chandler. The Suns will likely pocket the cash they saved because they were in the luxury tax treshold before getting rid of Wallace.

The Phoenix Suns sign Channing Frye

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Suns News, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 10 July 2009 at 6:18 pm

The Suns have signed 26-year old forward Channing Frye to a 2-year contract. Frye played in 63 games (1 start) for the Trailblazers last season and he averaged 11.8 minutes, 4.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. Frye has now played in 278 games (94 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 20.0 minutes, 8.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. The Suns needed some help at power forward with Amare Stoudemire likely returning to center to replace Shaquille O’Neal and Frye should fit the bill as he still has some upside.
