The Suns have signed 30-year old shooting guard Gordan Giricek to a contract for the remainder of the season. Giricek played in 34 games (0 starts) this season for the 76ers and Jazz and he has averaged 11.4 minutes, 3.9 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. But, he hasn’t shot well this season as he has only made 37.8% of his shots from the floor and 77.8% of his shots from the free throw line. He has now played in 362 games (191 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 23.2 minutes, 9.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Giricek has hit 43.9% of his shots from the floor, 36.7% of his three pointers and 81.9% of his free throws. He should fit right in on the Suns as he shows no inclination to play defense.

The rookies of the Phoenix Suns play rarely

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Sunday 2 March 2008 at 2:29 pm

The Suns don’t play many players in their rotation so the rookies are often left out like this season. First round pick Alando Tucker has only played in 5 games (0 starts) so far this season and he is averaging 4.6 minutes, 2.4 points and 0.6 rebounds per game. He is shooting 41.7% from the floor and 50% from the free throw line this season. He does have potential to work his way into the Suns rotation in the future but it might have to wait a couple of seasons. D.J. Strawberry has not played too well as a rookie. He has played in 24 games (0 starts) for the Suns this season and he is averaging 8.5 minutes, 2.5 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. Strawberry has shot pretty poorly this season as he is only hitting 33.3% of his shots from the floor and 45.5% from the free throw line.

Leandro Barbosa pitched in with 22 points and 5 rebounds off the bench. Steve Nash did a great job of running the offense as he finished with 21 points, 3 rebounds and 11 assists. The Suns are now 39-20 on the season.
