The Phoenix Suns re-sign center Sean Marks

Blogged under Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Suns News, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 13 July 2007 at 8:06 pm

The Suns have re-signed Sean Marks to a 1-year contract for the league minimum.  Marks only played in 3 games (0 starts) and he averaged 5.7 minutes, 2.0 points and 1.0 rebound per game.  He was only 1 for 3 (33.3%) from the floor and 2 for 2 (100%) from the free throw line.

Sean Marks has played in 108 games (6 starts) and he averaged 9.5 minutes, 3.1 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.  He also has shot 41.8% from the floor and 68% from the free throw line.

Marks was only re-signed because he is cheap.  If he ever has to play….the Suns are in trouble.

The last comment by Alleyoop shows considerable ingorance of the game and the player.
Does the writer really belive the Suns or any player would sign a player just because they are cheap? If that was the case the writer should make himself available for the draft.
Secondly Sean Marks has played at Olympics, world championships etc against the best players in the world and has played to their level - note i said best players in the world not just the NBA. Where did the US finish at the last two world championships and Olympics?

Peter Carpenter you have never spoken a truer word! Did you mean the Suns or any team rather than the Suns or any player?

Pete….the Suns make a lot of moves to keep the main core together. Why do you think they traded James Jones for nothing? How about Kurt Thomas and two #1 draft picks for a 2nd round pick? Of course the only reason Marks was signed because he was cheap. The same could be said of Brian Skinner and Grant Hill who would not be Suns if they wanted more than the minimum. By the way, Marks has done nothing in the NBA which was my only point about him.
