The Suns made a very expensive salary dump move in trading Kurt Thomas to the Seattle Supersonics.  The Suns also traded the Sonics their first round picks in both 2008 and 2010!  The only thing the Suns got in return was a conditional 2nd round pick in the 2009 Draft.  Thomas played in 67 games (13 starts) last season for the Suns and he averaged 18.0 minutes, 4.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.  Thomas shot 48.6% from the floor and 78.9% from the free throw line.  The Suns need to start keeping some of their draft picks or they will suffer in the near future.

The Suns have re-signed Sean Marks to a 1-year contract for the league minimum.  Marks only played in 3 games (0 starts) and he averaged 5.7 minutes, 2.0 points and 1.0 rebound per game.  He was only 1 for 3 (33.3%) from the floor and 2 for 2 (100%) from the free throw line.

Sean Marks has played in 108 games (6 starts) and he averaged 9.5 minutes, 3.1 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.  He also has shot 41.8% from the floor and 68% from the free throw line.

Marks was only re-signed because he is cheap.  If he ever has to play….the Suns are in trouble.

The Suns have sent James Jones to the Trailblazers to complete a trade that was made on draft day.  Jones played in 76 games (7 starts) last season and he averaged 18.1 minutes, 6.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game.  Jones shot 36.8% from the floor, 37.8% from three point range and 87.7% from the free throw line.  The Suns will miss Jones’ versatility off of the bench.

The Suns have signed SG/SF Grant Hill to a 2-year, $3.8 million dollar contract.  Hill has enough money so he signed with the Suns to try to win a ring.  He played in 65 games (64 starts) for the Orlando Magic last season and he averaged 30.9 minutes, 14.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.  Hill hit an amazing 51.8% of his shots from the floor.  He only hit 16.7% from three point range and 76.5% of his free throws.

Hill has had a long and productive career when he has been healthy enough to play.  Hill has played in 635 games (629 starts) and he has averaged 36.9 minutes, 20.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.4 steals per game.  Hill has hit 48.2% of his shots from the floor, 25.1% of his three point attempts and 75.8% of his free throws.  This was a very nice signing for the Suns at a nice discount price.
