Suns scorching hot right now

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 9 January 2007 at 7:47 pm

The Suns are now 25-8 on the season.  They have a 2.5 game lead on the Lakers in the Pacific Division and are currently the #2 team in the Western Conference only 1 game behind the Dallas Mavericks.  The Suns basically win by outrunning the opponent.  The Suns are leading the league in scoring at 110.8 points per game.  They also are the best shooting team in the NBA as they hit 49.2% of their shots from the floor.  The Suns score over 100 points in 81.8% of their games so far this season which is also the best in the NBA.  The Suns are the only team in the NBA that have 5 players averaging 15.0 or more points per game.  They are Steve Nash (19.9), Shawn Marion (19.1), Amare Stoudamire (17.8), Leandro Barbosa (16.6) and Raja Bell (15.0).  That’s what makes the Suns so tough is that anyone can get the hot hand for them and carry the team to victory.  The Suns will challenge for the #1 seed in the Western Conference all season long.

The Suns shot 51.9% from the floor in this game and got to give alot of their starters a break in this game because of the play of Leandro Barbosa and James Jones off the bench.  Barbosa led the way for the Suns with 26 points and 5 assists.  James Jones only played 26 minutes but he scored 25 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.  Shawn Marion had a great game at both ends of the court.  He wound up with 24 points, 17 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocked shots.

Leandro Barbosa providing firepower off the bench

Blogged under Steppin Up, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Sunday 7 January 2007 at 2:20 pm

Leandro Barbosa has only started one of his last 7 games, but you would never guess that by looking at the numbers he’s been putting up.  Barbosa has hit 50% of his shots in those games and has averaged 15.7 points, 1.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.1 steals in those games.  Barbosa is a big key to the Suns season because they run so much on offense that their starters get tired and when they put in Barbosa, they don’t miss a beat.
